The Rotary Club of Kidsgrove hosts the annual Bonfire and Firework Display at Clough Hall Park in Kidsgrove on Saturday 5th November. This event is normally the highlight event in Kidsgrove, which is well organised with a good quality professional display.
This year Kidsgrove Bonfire and Firework Display will include Warwick’s Fun Fair which will be open in Clough Hall Park on the Thursday and will run until the end of the evening on the 5th of November. Refreshments and snacks will be available in Clough Hall Park with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and the firework display starting at 7.45pm.
Its £5 Adult, £3 OAP/Children (under 3 free) and £12 for a family of four. Gates open at 6pm. It should be an enjoyable evening and please go and support the work on the Rotary Club of Kidsgrove.
Kidsgrove Athletic tomorrow will take on Bradford Park Avenue in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup. If Kidsgrove are to win this match then they will progress to the 1st Round of the FA Cup. This would make Kidsgrove the lowest ranked team this year to make the FA Cup 1st Round and would also give them the chance of playing a team from the Football League. It would be possible for Kidsgrove to draw either Port Vale or Crewe Alexandra.
Kidsgrove are at home tomorrow playing at the Seddon Stadium and would really welcome as much local support as possible. Tickets for the match can be purchased on the day from the ground with prices £7 for adults and £2 for juniors.
Kidsgrove Athlitic can be found just of Hollinwood Lane (just past Kidsgrove Fire Station), however expect parking to be tight in that area of Kidsgrove tomorrow. You may be better parking in somewhere else in Kidsgrove and walking to the Seddon Stadium.
If you can’t make the game then you can hear the game via BBC Radio Stoke. They are covering Kidsgrove from 3pm on the DAB frequency. Lets all hope Kidsgrove can make history and get in to the FA Cup First Round!
Silvia Burgess Kidsgrove Town Councillor for Butt Lane has defected from the Lib Dems to the Labour Party. This now has changed the make up of Kidsgrove Town Council to 16 Labour, 4 UKIP, 2 Lib Dem and 1 independent councillor. This clearly does nothing for the majority of the Kidsgrove Labour Party majority and control on Kidsgrove Town Council, however it does put Councillor Burgess on the party with control.
Councillor Silvia Burgess claims to have made the move to Labour as a result of the proposal to close the Royal Mail sorting office at Butt Lane. It appears this move has come about following the opposition to the move that Kidsgrove Town Council has put forward. The hasty action from the Kidsgrove Labour Party has already been criticised by UKIP councillor Locke, who quite logically suggested that the council should surly establish any facts from Royal Mail before going any further? It is all totally meaningless and a political point scoring tactic by some members of the council as KTC have no control over the actions of an independently run organisation.
Margaret Astle is said to be pleased with the decision of Silver Burgess. The most important decision will be that of the residents of Butt Lane, the very people who elected her.
The main pool hall at Kidsgrove Sports centre is closed until further notice due to damage to the ceiling, caused by the adverse weather conditions.
Robert Foster, Head of Leisure and Cultural Services, said: “The Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause but the safety of members of the public using the centre remains a priority”.
A survey will be carried out by the County Council to assess the extent of the damage and the pool will only re-open when it is safe to do so.
Half-term activities already planned for the sports hall, Astroturf pitches and the studio remain unaffected and the small pool and Castle Gym are open for business as normal.
Swimming lessons in the main pool have been suspended while the survey is carried out and will start again when the pool re-opens for business.

Kidsgrove Town Councillor and Newcastle Borough Councillor Kyle-Noel Taylor is alleged to have referred to Staffordshire Police as "incompetent", made a sexually explicit remark, and compared Newcastle Borough Council's recycling scheme awards to Adolf Hitler's decorations for bravery.
Kidsgrove Town Councillor and Newcastle Borough Councillor Kyle-Noel Taylor told The Sentinel that he denies doing anything wrong, claiming that tweets were taken out of content. Councillor Kyle-Noel Taylor also refuted claims that he named a local teenage mother on Twitter and revealed personal information without her permission.
One of the Tweets made by Councilor Kyle-Noel Taylor is alleged to have read: "Did you know Hitler was awarded Germany's highest award for bravery? Did you also know Newcastle BC has won lots of awards for recycling?". This sort of comment has led to some members of Newcastle Borough Council calling for him to resign, however it appears that the Labour Party in Newcastle who have currently suspended him seem reluctant to take any action.
