Whitehill Online has been contacted by a fair few Kidsgrove residents who have been exceptionally concerned at a new barbed wire fence that has been erected next to the public footpath at Bath Pool Park.
It appears that the fence which is no more than 4 feet high has been erected just under the railway crossing of the main footpath of the Kidsgrove park. The fence runs adjacent to the public footpath all the way along to the start of another public path. It is at this point that barbed wire is left exposed to the public.
We are shocked by the use of such a fence in a local Kidsgrove park and especially so close to a public footpath. You have to question if this would leave Newcastle Borough Council with a serious civil injury claim, should someone fall over and injure themselves.
Whitehill Online understands that local Kidsgorve Borough Councillor Margaret Astle is a leading figure in the Friends of Bathpool Group who devise ideas to improve the park. We contacted her for a comment on this matter, however as we have now come to expect from the local Kidsgrove Councillor she just ignores our requests.
