Civic Honour for Former Whitehill Resident Lincoln Abotts

Lincoln Abotts kidsgroveFormer Whitehill resident Lincoln Abbotts was recently made a Freeman of the City of London, after being presented by the Worshipful Company of Musicians in a ceremony held at London's Guildhall. A flute player, composer and conductor now based in London, he was a pupil at Maryhill High School, Kidsgrove and of Stoke-on-Trent College. Having been supported by the inspirational teachers and music making opportunities within Staffordshire, Lincoln went on to study in Manchester and London before working at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the BBC and national music education charity Music for Youth. In April he takes up the new post of Teaching and Learning Development Director with ABRSM - the internationally recognised educational body and charity that provides examinations in music.
