Plans to extend Kidsgrove ski-slope have been recommended for approval by Newcastle Brough Council, despite some Kidsgrove residents' objections.
More than 70 kidsgrove residents have signed a petition against the proposals for Kidsgrove Ski Centre, in Bathpool Park, Kidsgrove, however planning officers claim that the plans are acceptable. This would see the ski-slope at Kidsgrove extended to 60 metres at the bottom of the slope and the overall length increased to 100 metres.
According to a report to the planning committee at Newcastle Borough Council, the development would be "appropriate". The report to the planning meeting states: "Although the loss of the woodland would have an impact upon the character of the landscape in the immediate locality, in the wider context of Bathpool Park, the impact would not be so significant to justify refusal on the ground of loss of trees."
It will be interesting to see how Kidsgrove Mayor Kyle Robinson will vote at this meeting having made some non committal comments to the media.
