Kidsgrove Day Care Centre is set to close after Staffordshire County Council took this decision as part of their modernisation plans for the service.
Kidsgrove Day Care Service is used by vulnerable adults with complex learning difficulties, however Staffordshire County Council claims that users numbers are falling at the centre as people choose to use services offered by alternative providers.
Staffordshire County Council is to set about a process of reassessing all users of the day care services in Staffordshire with the belief that only 30% of the current users of the service will need access to such provision from the council. This will lead to a saving for Staffordshire County Council, however they have not said how much this will be. What is known is the council currently spends £8.6 million on this area of care from the current budget.
Users of the service in Kidsgrove will now be forced to travel to Leek or Newcastle if they wish to have access to similar services.
