Today (June 1st 2013) MaryHill High School ceased to exist as the school has transferred to become the University of Chester Academy Kidsgrove.
It appears that the school is making the same move that many other schools have decided to make, something which was set out in the education white paper produced by this current Government as a method of driving up standards and personalising the education that students get. This move will no doubt have been brought about by the recent OFSTED report which the high school received which suggested that the school "needed to improve".
The sponsor UCAT appear to want to change the uniform at the Academy and also ensure that term dates compare with similar UCAT academies across the area. What this actually means for parents, students and staff at the school is yet to be known, however if it is to be like many other schools who have transferred to academy status then the school day and school term times could vastly change.
The new academy website is live and in operation today. We would welcome parents thoughts on this move to become an academy.
