Margaret Astle wins close Kidsgrove battle

Kidsgrove ElectsMargaret Astle wins a close battle with Geoff Locke in the Kidsgrove ward for Staffordshire County Council, however the turnout of only 2702 voters out of a total of 11272 is not a rounding endorsement for any candidate.

The Labour candidate was earlier this year removed from Kidsgrove Town Council for non attendance, however this appears not to have been an issue for some of the electorate in the Kidsgrove area. Margaret Astle polled 1183 votes (44%) with Geoff Locke polling 1097 votes (41%), the Conservatives and Lib Dems both had a very poor day.

It will be interesting to see how Kidsgrove performs under Margaret Astle and if the area will continue to see the current rate of improvements, as Kidsgrove has experienced in the previous 4 years.

I'm not a fan of any of the parties locally as they all seem a waste of time.

Have to admit more roads got resurfaced, pot holes repaired, new street lights, new drainage improvements and that new roof at Kidsgrove sports complex.

All this for no extra council tax. Makes you wonder what the last lot were doing?
