Kidsgrove Area suffers Flooding

Kidsgrove Suffers FloodingThe Kidsgrove area is tonight on flood alert after a high volume of water has fallen over the last few days. Kidsgrove has already seen some areas suffer flooding and many other areas of Kidsgrove will be worried that they may be next.

The A50 at Red Bull Lights is closed at the moment due to flooding. The reports that we have received at the moment are mixed, some claim to be the canal which has burst its bank, whereas others are suggesting that it is the brook which runs alongside the road and under Red Bull Lights.

Staffordshire County Councillor for Kidsgrove Mary Maxfield reports that she has received a visit from Rob Steele, Highways Engineer for Staffordshire County Council, who devised the scheme which Mary Maxfield got installed on Newchapel Road. He reports that there are no problems with the Newchapel Road scheme, however flooding is evident in other parts of Kidsgrove.

Water traveling down Park Bank, Rookery into the culvert under the High Street, Rookery close to the Chip Shop has caused the road to break up, however thankfully the houses have not been flooded.

The junction of Alderhay Lane and Harriseahead Lane, Rookery is flooded and this is because of all the debris from the hedgerows and fields. Despite £100,000 being spent on the drainage in the Dales Green area there is still a problem.

If residents are worried about flooding or spot a potential flooding risk, please contact Mary Maxfield as soon as possible.
