Kidsgrove is starting to bloom as a result of Kidsgrove residents volunteering their own personal time for the good of the Kidsgrove community. This hard work will also form part of the Newcastle-under-Lyme entry into the Britain in Bloom competition. It will be great to see Kidsgrove blooming when that summer sun finally arrives.
The Friends of Kidsgrove Railway Station group have planted wall planters, the wishing well and garden on platform 2 at the Kidsgrove Station in red, white and blue to mark the Jubilee. The gardens are still being worked on, however they are already looking impressive as the images show.
The Friends of Kidsgrove Railway Station group which comprises of 7 lady members are always looking and welcome new members to the group. It is something that all Kidsgrove residents of any age can get involved in. Mary Maxfield in our forum commented that the group is short of male members at the moment and carrying water and bark over the bridges is hard work. The group has recently been helped by workers from the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust whose work was greatly appreciated.
The Memorial Gardens, The Avenue, Kidsgrove have also had a makeover. The inside garden has now been planted and the 4 beds in front have now been cut out ready for planting shrubs. The gardens should look good for the Remembrance event in November. Thanks go to NBC and Kidsgrove Youth Club for their hard work. Barclays Bank have given £500 towards costs and hopefully the application for £500 from SCC Members' Initiative Fund will be approved shortly.
