Kidsgrove Youth Parliament members are campaigning and fund raising for improvements to the current Skate Park at Birchenwood, in Kidsgrove. It has been reported in The Sentinel that the Kidsgrove Skate Park, found opposite Stone Bank Stores, could be improved if members of the Kidsgrove Youth Parliament get the go ahead.
Kidsgrove Councillor David Stringer commented in The Sentinel suggesting that the Kidsgrove Youth Parliament had put a lot of work into this project and they had been looking in to various different options to raise the finance to make this project viable. He went on to suggest that the Kidsgrove Youth Parliament was set up for these very purposes to give young people in Kidsgrove a say on what is done for them.
The Kidsgrove Skate Park has been at the centre of controversy in the past with many Kidsgrove residents opposing the installation of the original park in Kidsgrove. It will be interesting to learn how Kidsgrove residents will respond to these new plans to improve the Skate Park.
Any improvements would require planning permission to be passed from Newcastle Borough Council, which Kidsgrove Councillor Kyle Robinson appears to support. It is fair to expect any planning application to be passed now that Labour control Newcastle Borough Council.
