The Kidsgrove Town to Health Centre Bus service is currently facing many complaints due to upset residents who feel this bus isnt serving their needs. Whitehill Online has now had 4 emails asking for us to help on this matter as the company operating the service Euro Bus Stoke is hard to track down and locate.
Well, we havent been able to get an answer from the company itself, however we have managed to establish that the licence for the route is owned by a company called GLADYS MARY NAGINGTON who trade as Euro Bus Stoke.
The main claim by residents is that the bus service does not run to time or the published route, actually acting as a "taxi" for certain residents picking them up from their doors and taking them to certain stores in Kidsgrove, before taking these people home. Now from past discussions about this with Cllr Mary Maxfield, Whitehill Online established that this is a privately operated route, which means it has to operate at a profit. How this is possible when catering for such few numbers hard to achieve.
Whitehill Online would like to call on the authorities to investigate this service and the amount of money the company is claiming from the council through the use of "free" bus pass users. We would like to see if the number of passes claimed actually tally with the number of bus users.
If public transport is meant to be for all residents of Kidsgrove then an enforcement of the route is a minimum which the residents of Kidsgrove should expect.
We shall be putting this story to all local councillors, including Mrs Astle our County Council member and Staffordshire CC transport department. We await replies and will publish any updates.
