We have been made aware that O2 will be applying for planning permission to site a telephone mast on land just off Whitehall Avenue. It is believed that this is the mast which Cllr Burnet objected to being located next to her home on the land next to the old telephone exchange in Kidsgrove.
This will clearly be worrying news for local residents, however many will be mobile phone users and should really accept that phone use is going to result in the need for more masts. Any such mast would probably cater for the 3G needs of the area, something which is becoming required with the development and take up of mobile broadband.
T-mobile are also meant to be looking for a local site, now that they are partnering 3 mobile - so this could be a possible site for mast sharing. We will keep you informed on this development, just like we have emailed Cllr Astle asking for her comments on a mast so close to her home. Will residents benifit from the NIMBY approach of another Labour Kidsgrove Councillor?
