Kidsgrove Rotary Fundraising & Charity Report

The Rotary Club of Kidsgrove have in the last 12 months been able to give just under £15000 to a large number of local groups and organisations that have asked for our help. These donations, around 50 in total, have ranged from small amounts in the region of £50, to as much as £1500.

We would like to point out that this money has been raised through the generosity of the good people of Kidsgrove and surrounding areas as well as local business and commerce. All the money we are able to donate is from events we have run throughout the year, events such as the Annual Bonfire & Fireworks Display, Easter Egg Appeal, the Gritstone Charity walk and the very popular Annual Reindeer Collection. Some of the money raised helps to pay for the annual Community day at the Victoria Hall, Kidsgrove which we provide food and an afternoon’s entertainment for around 150 local senior citizens.

Kidsgrove Rotary, as well as supporting many local organisations and self-help groups, also contributes through national and international Rotary initiatives, to famine and disaster relief worldwide, both through long-term campaigns to help communities develop their own self-support facilities, and being early providers of equipment necessary when a disaster hits.

One particular campaign that Rotary has been in the forefront for the last twenty years is the eradication of Polio. This campaign has been so successful that Polio now only exists in four countries of the world, the number of reported cases so far this year across the world is well below 200, and the hope is that, with your continued help, we can totally eradicate this disease within the next few years.

The Rotary Club of Kidsgrove would like to thank everyone for their very generous support over the last 12 months, and hope that you will continue to support us over the coming years. With your support, we will be able to continue to provide vital funds to the many local and national initiatives that would probably not succeed without your help and generosity.
